I have talked about the first link priority seo technique before. Basically, Google was placing alot of ranking power for the first link anchor text. But is this still true today.

I implemented this before to test on another website and it worked. But now since Google released the Panda update, my site went down. And I mean way down from page one to page 8!!! It’s still indexed but this makes me think that Google may be placing a penalty on this strategy.

While SEO’s are trying to rank higher, Google does encourage ethical SEO because it actually helps them find and organize great content. But they may see this First Link Priority Technique as a very negative thing. I really do not know.

But I will test this. I am going to remove my first link with the keyword and keep it at the “Home” link. I will report back after a few months and see if this fixes the problem.

If you have had any experience with this also, please leave a comment.

I was confused about the auto generated clickbank thank you & registration page created by Wishlist Member. I searched all over the internet and couldn’t find this answer anywhere so I figured I would post the answer here. Maybe it will help someone out. Here is the conversation I had with Wishlist Member Support:

I am trying to set up the thank you page after some one pays with clickbank and find it rather strange that I can’t edit it.

In the “Integration” section, wishlist creates a thank you url for me and the video says to use this.

Only problem is it doesn’t say anything in this extension:  /index.php/register/LPXYtv

Do I have to edit this file through FTP or can it be done on WordPress?

I only saw a similar question in the forums with no answer.

    Hi There Eric,
The “Thank You URL” in our Clickbank Integration Step 1 is not customizable.. It is a URL that captures data from clickbank after the member pays. It confirms if the member really paid and redirect them to a registration page where they provide their account info. Therefore, when you try to access that URL directly, it wont work. It is a security measure so that other people wont be able to pass it around and have then register on your site for free.
Hope that clarifies everything. Please let me know if you need anything else.
    Thanks

Let me know if this helps you out in the comments section below. This would have saved me a bunch of time.

Before I talked about leveraging content creation from other people by using email. Now I’d like to talk about automatically publishing it onto your blog with WordPress’ publish to post feature.

First, all you would have to do is forward the particular email address to the WordPress created email to post address that it creates.

In a self hosted wordpress blog, you have to create your own email account and register it. But a free wordpress.com site will provide you with a email.

To set up automatic publishing by email do the following:

    1. Login to WordPress
    2. Under Settings, click on Writing tab
    3. You will see Post via e-mail
    4. Fill in your email information or create one
    5. Thats it

Just remember to forward emails to this address and they will be automatically posted to your blog.Automatic posting by using email.

I was looking for some ways to convert emails into a RSS feed. I searched around the internet for a little bit and couldn’t find an article on how to convert emails to a RSS feed.

I know there is a way to do it. I am just not sure. I asked a programmer at work and he said he could do it but never had experience with it so he would have to look into it.

Here are some ways that I came up with:

    • RSS Creators- search around for those sites that can create a rss feed for you based on any content and see what you can come up with. This is more of an idea to get you thinking than a solution. You might have to paste all the emails into an excel document and upload it to a RSS creator. Look for tools that might automatically run through all your emails if you have hundreds of them like I do. I think Scrapebox might be able to do this. Also, I believe you can create a rss from google spreadsheets.
    • Social Bookmarks- Use social bookmarking sites to create a RSS Feed. Most social bookmarking sites will create a RSS feed from your bookmarks. You can organize them by tags. Post the email into the description and post. I like digio because you can highlight paragraphs and easily bookmark it.
    • Using Blog- If your main reason to create a RSS feed was to feed them into the blog, there is a much better solution anyway by using the post by email feature which I will discuss more in depth later. All you would do is forward the email address to the blog. Or you can do this and grab that blogs’ RSS feed.

Content is one of the most important, powerful, and demanded things in the web marketing game. The more content, your blog or site has, the more SEO power you will have and more traffic you will get. This also means more money from either advertising that is on your page, similar affiliate products you might be selling, or your own products.

I have a few ideas of getting content that I’d like to share about getting free content by leveraging other people. I somewhat stumbled on this idea.

    • Use Visitors Questions for Content- A great way to blog is to take questions from your visitors and reply to them. I have about 5 people asking me questions everyday and I am constantly writing back to them in paragraphs worth of content. Why not use this and build up your website? Get double the benefit from it.
    • Be Creative to Build Free Content- Another way I found, is to offer something free (maybe 1 in a 100) but have the person fill out a form with detailed information. A lot of them will write a paragraph of content. Paste this along with your response on your website.

    Legality of Leveraging Content

This may not be legal and you could find yourself getting sued if the person emailing actually finds it and is made about it. A way to get around it may be to just state in your terms of use for the site, that any emails will be publically posted on the website.

But I am not a lawyer so its best to get legal advice.

Making It Easy for People To Submit Content To You

I found that a great way for people to submit you content is to make a form on a particular page. One of my techniques to sending traffic to these forms is to post a video. I use my video marketing services to build up a lot of attention to stuff like this. The video gets thousands of videos and hundreds of free content pieces to use on my site.

    Automating Content Publishing

There are some great ways that you can automate this content being published and I will write up a post for that soon. This is make things easy and save a bunch of time, while preventing you from slacking on taking advantage of this free content.

Sometimes I just realize great video marketing techniques by watching tv. I was recently watching TV and a commerical came up. As annoying as commercials are and even though I can’t stand them, I really appreciated this one because I learned a valuable technique to grab attention with what you say.

First off, with all the content and advertisements sent to people these days, it can be hard to grab their attention. If you type out the words to important phrases of what you’re saying, this can stick out.

But when I saw this commercial, they were even more clever to catch my attention to their ad. While they were speaking the important phrase, they not only showed it on the screen, but also highlighted each word larger. This is a great way to catch someones attention.

To take it even further, you can make these phrases influential by expressing benefits that it will sell them on.

I wanted to create this site to discuss all the video sharing sites that are available. Youtube is by far the biggest video sharing site, but you shouldn’t limit to only these sites. You can expand the reach of your videos easily just by uploading them to these websites:

    • AOL Uncut Video (uncutvideo.aol.com)
    • blip.tv (www.blip.tv)
    • DailyMotion (www.dailymotion.com)
    • Flixya (www.flixya.com)
    • GUBA (www.guba.com)
    • Jumpcut (www.jumpcut.com)
    • Metacafe (www.metacafe.com)
    • Ourmedia (www.ourmedia.org)
    • Revver (www.revver.com)
    • Sharkle (www.sharkle.com)
    • Veoh (www.veoh.com)
    • Vimeo (www.vimeo.com)
    • vSocial (www.vsocial.com)
    • yahoo! Video (video.yahoo.com)
    • YouAreTV (www.youare.tv)
    • ZippyVideos (www.zippyvideos.com)

The website that I mentioned in the list actually have less traffic than Youtube combined, but it can really add up when you upload a video to all of them. To optimize for these websites, take a look at my Youtube Search engine tip so that you get the most out of your videos.

If you get started in basic video marketing, you will want to learn at least some simple video editing software that is available. So I just wanted to create a list below of some basic video editing tools and what they are capable of doing. Most of these are free also so you can download them and get started in no time.

    1. Windows Movie Maker: Great free software from Microsoft Windows. You can add transitions, titles, credits, and add individual clips.
    2. Apple iMovie: Fairly similar with Windows Movie Maker. Has great cropping and zooming capabilities as well which I really like.

If you end up doing Youtube Marketing, which is one of the biggest sites to brand and get traffic from, I decided to add some tips below:

    • There are alot of files types you can save the video as, but I recommend the AVI or MPEG4 file type.
    • A good resolution is 640X480 at 30 frames per second (fps).
    • A more Youtube friendly size is at 320X240 MPEG4 file.
    • If you are uploading to Youtube, convert to MPEG4 instead of having Youtube do it because it looks better.
    • Have a 4:3 aspect ratio for Youtube.

You can use a variety of different types of cameras. You can use a webcam and the typical resolution is about 640X 480 which is kind of poor quality. Higher priced webcams such as the Logitech’s QuickCom Pro 9000. Some webcams (most of them today) have a separate microphone also.

What I want to talk you guys today is about mobile messaging. And this is really text messaging. The year 2011 this is probably going to be the biggest fundamental shift that we’re going to see in the internet marketing in the world. Just as how social media was really big and is a big buzz word.

Mobile marketing is basically going to be the buzz word if you want to call it that. Before we begin let’s understand what is mobile marketing or text messaging in particular in the first place. The true definition is it’s a form of marketing that either uses SMS or MMS to deliver information to mobile devices. SMS. MMS. Who you talking about? Yeah, I know the terminology is kind of weird but if you want to break it down basically SMS is a short messaging system and really all that really means text messaging. Text messaging each other that is called SMS. And MMS on the other hand is basically the same thing, but instead from sending text communication you’re actually sending either audio clips or video clips.

This has not hit mainstream right now that big, just because of band width and so forth. I mean this is probably going to be a norm down the road. So why mobile? Well, I mean it’s probably the quickest, fastest, cheapest and easiest way for you guys to connect with your customers. And not to mention there’s probably little or no competition in your niche market right now.

Personalizing emails sent to your email newsletter list can help improve its open rate and click through rate if you include a link.  But my email newsletter service provider which is Aweber sent me some interesting stats about personalizing your emails for the best open rate.

    They stated that:

Subject line personalization using the date generated an average open rate of 51.4% compared to personalization using the subscriber’s first name generating 40.9% open rate. Newsletters sent without personalization of any type in the subject line generated average open rates of 28.9%.

17% of newsletter subject lines sent in the last 30 days contained date personalization while 19% used the subscriber’s first name. 56.3% of subject lines did not contain any type of personalization. Interestingly, using the subscriber’s full name or last name generated lower average open rates at 20%.

They collected this data from all of their clients. This information is very helpful and I actually tested this out myself. So I also found out the by using the personalized variable for the person’s name in the subject line did worst for open rates. I was shocked and I hope this tip helps you as well.

I think email marketing is awesome but you might also want to check out mobile marketing that I have been wanting to get into as well.
